Spot 4 Kidz Extra is a prevention and early intervention intensive family support service for the purpose of strengthening the resilience and capacity of parents and children aged 0-8 years. This program aims to assist parents to make changes within their family situation which in turn will impact positively on their children. Extra is conducted in a parent and child friendly environment and is offered in 2 streams.

The first stream is in the form of a parenting program designed for parents with children age 0 – 3 years. This program is named “Terrific 2’s Parenting Program” runs for 7 weeks in a group environment. Topics covered in this program include: child development, environment, communication, relationships, routines, family values, encouragement and discipline.

The second stream is in the form of a play based parent-child interaction program. This program is offered to parents with children age 2 – 8 years and is designed around developing positive parent-child relationships. Using play based activities parents learn to communicate more positively to their children thus developing a respectful relationship. Individual case plans are designed specifically for the family who attend our centre twice per week for a period of approximately 8 weeks. Case plan time frames may be less or greater depending the changes parents wish to achieve.

Spot 4 Kidz Extra program, an initiative of The Spot Community Services Ltd, are funded by The Department of Communities and are free to attend. Free child care and transportation are offered to parents’ whist attending our programs to assist them to access our service.
